Growing up, I was always looking for something to help me ease my worry and anxiety. I was the “too sensitive” kid in my family. I felt everything too much. I was very intuitive but as a kid it felt like a curse, not a blessing. I didn’t like it. I wanted to be normal and needed to find ways to feel safe. Luckily I lived in Israel where you can find a spiritual solution for everything; dozens of amulets, prayers, and rituals that people across the world use to protect themselves from bad luck and curses.
Early on in life, I realized my family used rituals to feel good and let go of negative energy. It could be the special homemade purple tea, golhe gabzebon, my mom made me, or a hamsa necklace or evil eye symbol to take away other people’s unwanted negative intentions. Also let’s not forget the typical safety prayer with blessings, or a red string to tie around your wrist from the market in Jerusalem to help with good luck and so much more.
It took me years to get it. I was around 8 years old when I started asking questions and looking for answers in books, at school, from my friends’ moms and grandmothers, and everywhere I could. Today, I know safety and answers are in God’s hands but as a kid and young adult I needed a physical solution.
Because of the deep connection, 20 years ago I began painting spiritual symbols and giving them away or tucking them somewhere hidden, because I wasn’t ready and as my mentors will say “it wasn’t time.” This year, during Covid-19, it was finally time. Time to let you see all the magic of these beautiful pieces that unfolded in the last few months into something I am super proud to share with you.
What are protection eyes and what do they mean?
After a few months of research, I painted 15 Divine circles of protection; each has unique attributes and prayers for safety and protection. First I wanted to explain what the hamsa and evil eyes represent and how you can protect yourself and your home by displaying them.
The right way to access the powers and possibilities of the Divine circle of protection (the evil eye protection) is to firmly believe, buy into its strength and let its idea of protection guide you on your life’s journey.
This original contemporary artwork was created with the intention of showering your home and soul with the energy of abundance, love, peace, safety and protection, which I believe is everyone’s birthright. In this series I combined the hamsa and evil eye as a protection. When the evil eye and prayers are combined, no curse, negative thought or bad intention will hinder you from achieving your goals and attaining certain values.
In these 15 Divine circles of protection symbols, each color represents different attributes of protection.

Amethyst – intelligence protection
Turquoise – peace protection
Natural White – purity protection
Onyx Black – power and prosperity protection
Transparent eye – clarity and mindfulness protection
Silver – security protection
Royal Purple – balance and calm protection
Ultra Pink – friendship protection
Violet – true love protection
Earth – connection protection
Forest Green – Success protection
Sage green – balance and freedoms protection
Ruby Red – courage protection
Amber Yellow – health protection
Coral Orange – happiness protection
Each of these colors has its significance, making it a good defense against evil eyes, bad luck and misfortune.
What is a hamsa or evil eye?
The evil eye is thought of as a look given to inflict harm, suffering, or some form of bad luck on those it is cast upon. It is a look which clearly states one intends for something bad to happen to the object of one’s focus, either out of jealousy or pure malice. The superstition of the evil eye holds that the malicious look is powerful enough to bring about actual disaster for the unfortunate person who is the receiver of the glare.
The symbol and superstition of the evil eye is one of the strongest symbolic images in the world. It retains largely the same meaning of protection and safety.
How can you protect yourself from bad luck or evil eyes?
One of the most popular ways is with a talisman called the khamsa (Arabic) or hamsa (Hebrew) that resembles an intricately carved hand, the “evil eye” (In Hebrew: עין הרע). The tradition is popularly thought to be associated with Kabbalah and religious forms of Judaism. There’s also the nazar (in Turkey), a royal blue bead with circles in the middle resembling a pupil, almost an “eye”, often set on a blue background.
These symbols can be found in homes and on people of every faith from West Asia to Central America, placed on front doors, worn as jewelry, draped on furniture, or simply placed around the person being protected. And although devoutly religious monotheists condemn amulets as superstitious and therefore sinful, talismans remain extremely common in homes of every faith and religion.
The true color of life is realized only when our mind and soul become fearless, and that happens only if we are feeling safe, secure, and protected.
